Vibrogym UK The Original Vibration Plate
Vibrogym, Vibration Training, Vibration Therapy, Vibrotraining

Welcome to the official distribution site of VibroGym UK, the first company to introduce a whole body vibration plate with 100% vertical vibration. On this page you will find information about our history, products and whole body vibration training, whole body vibration exercises and whole body vibration science and research.
VibroGym developed and introduced the first original plate for whole body vibration training in 1999. The largest part of the available research about vibration training has been done on the original VibroGym plate.
*** Please Note: ***
Before March 2004, the Vibrogym was formally referred to as
Powerplate. Research before this time mentioning Powerplate has been actually performed on the VibroGym platform. The product now marketed as Powerplate is a different product and no longer features the high quality Dutch engineering and construction of the VibroGym.
Strength Study
The Vibrogym increases leg strength in young women
‘WBV and the reflexive muscle contraction it provokes, has the
potential to induce strength gain in knee extensors of previously
untrained females to the same extent as resistance training at
moderate intensity. It was clearly shown that strength increases after
WBV training are not attributable to a placebo effect.'

Strength Study
The Vibrogym increases leg strength in older women
'In conclusion, muscle strength and speed of movement of knee
extensors and counter-movement jump performance increased
significantly in older women after 24 weeks of WBV training.'

Soccer Study
The Vibrogym increases leg strength with weights for soccer players
In conclusion, WBV at 30 Hz transmitted through a vibration platform
in half squat position without any additional load significantly
increased the normalised EMGrms activity of all muscle portions
studied compared with the nonvibrating condition of the same position.

Rehab Study
Vibrogym (previously known as Powerplate) stimulates recovery after
anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture
Research shows using the VibroGym expedites recovery of muscle
performance after ACL rupture. Combination with conventional
physiotherapy, exercises on the VibroGym lead to improved muscular
power, enhanced proprioceptive abilities and stabilization of the art.
genus. As a result, this special kind of therapy can be used for
stabilizing joints and preventing additional trauma. VibroGym therapy
is significant for anyone wanting to recover as quickly as possible
from this kind of surgery in order to get back to normal daily
activities such as work and sports.

Massage Study
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) Study
The VibroGym can help reduce Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and
speed the recovery of muscle power after intense exercise.
'The findings within this study suggest that vibratory massage may
also be a useful rehabilitation intervention for those individuals who
suffer from delayed onset muscle soreness. This would have
implications upon employment of masseurs and open a debate to
determine their necessity. In turn this may make the role of masseurs
redundant and reduce on-going rehabilitation costs.'

Fitness Study
The VibroGym improved a number of key measures of fitness for post-
menopausal over 6 months
'In healthy postmenopausal women, a 24-week whole body vibration
program is feasible and able to modify muscle strength, balance, and
hip bone density which are well-recognized risk fact.

Balance Study
The VibroGym can help improve strength, balance and flexibility in
geriatrics in 6 weeks
The feasibility of whole body vibration in institutionalised elderly
persons and its influence on muscle performance, balance and mobility:
a randomised controlled trial show great benefits for the participants.
'We can conclude that 6 weeks static WBV exercises are feasible in
elderly with limited functional dependency, and might be beneficial
for balance and mobility.'

Muscle Activity Study
The acute effects of whole-body vibration on
muscle activity, strength, and power
'The use of whole-body vibration as a warm-up procedure should be
considered for coaches, and for strength and conditioning coaches in
particular.'

Basal Metabolic Rate Study
The VibroGym can increase BMR with little exercise and massage in 6
weeks.

Anti-Cellulite Study
The VibroGym decreased cellulite in 24 weeks by 25% with VibroGym.
With the addition of cardio training reduction improved to 32%.

Diabetic Study
Theses findings suggest that vibration exercise may be an effective
and low time consuming tool to enhance glycemic control in type 2
diabetes patients.

Fibromyalgia Study
Patients who completed the program showed more improvements than those
who did not. In a post-program survey, ten of the twelve patients who
completed the program showed interest in continue in such a program,
even if it means paying for the machine usage. The most noticeable
improvements made by the completed group were: included decreased pain
in the last 48 hours (particularly after the training sessions),
decreased number of workdays missed in the last seven days, increased
days felt good decreased anxiousness and depression.

Testimonials
"I have enjoyed considerable benefits using VibroGym and this combined
with enhanced recovery will power me towards Beijing Gold in 2008...it
is the ultimate 'secret' weapon"
Sara Carrigan, Olympic Gold Medallist, Road Cycling
"The results are very promising for assisting sportspeople in
achieving flexibility and range of motion gains which may help them to
improve technique and reduce injury."
Ben Hinton, Researcher, Edith Cowan University
"I use vibration training before and after training because it allows
me to train harder and recover faster. There has been a lot of
international research done on vibration training showing that it
greatly reduces Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and that it can give me
improved flexibility and jumping power in much less time than
conventional training."
Tatiana Gregorieva, Olympic pole vault silver medalist
"I used the Vibrogym before knee surgery and found that it really
complimented the weights and cardiovascular training that I was doing
at the gym. I've used Vibrogym after a work out in the gym, to do
balance and rehabilitation exercises for my knee as well as core
stability and of course, for cool down and massage. In terms of a work
out, I find that you can really increase the intensity to make the
exercise session quite challenging and a great workout. The great
thing about Vibrogym is that I always feel really light and energised
after a session rather than heavy and lethargic like I do after a
regular gym session."
Lydia Ierodiaconcou, Olympic and Commonwealth Games arial skier: Gold
Medalist
